What is sex? -
I would like to share my impressions of the book “Not in the Cabbage and Not the Stork” by Anna Herzog and illustrations by Joelle Turlonias.
I bought the book for my 6-year-old son. I want to gradually tell him about everything related to gender.
The book uses the example of a family where a mother is pregnant with her third child and discusses the following issues in detail in the form of dialogues between parents and children:

The book “Not in Cabbage and Not a Stork” by Anna Herzog, from the Talent Publishing House (Unisoft), pleases with its quality:
It has a hard and reliable cover;
convenient medium size (fits easily on a bookshelf);
very nice illustrations + there are a lot of them;
a small amount of text, which is good for restless kids who find it difficult to concentrate for a long time.
The book will easily help parents of modern children to talk about what was taboo in our childhood, and now it is simply necessary to catch up before the children themselves learn about everything and perceive the material received in the wrong form, or even worse, begin to apply it in practice.
The book clearly defines that you need to grow up and “stand on your own two feet” first, and only then start “such” relationships, because future parents must be ready not only physically but also have the financial means to raise a future child.
There is a good glossary of terms, where the basic concepts and their meanings are written.
We bought the book when we were expecting our second child, when our daughter started asking a lot of questions about it, and we were embarrassed to find the right words on our own. So we recommend this book – it will help you to understand your children.

For a long time, sexual education in most of our families was reduced to silence (like, they will find out about everything on their own), or, at best, a book or article was slipped into magazines. Books like Not in the Cabbage and Not the Stork help parents themselves to clarify some topics.
If you want to tell your child but don’t know how. If you don’t feel embarrassed when your child asks “about it”. I definitely recommend this book!
This book explains important topics of sexuality education in the form of a life story: the difference between a man and a woman, body changes during growing up, sex, contraception, how a baby forms and grows during pregnancy, why some twins are very similar and some are not, childbirth, etc.
Everything is called by its proper name, in moderate detail, enough for the child to understand.
Some sentences can be framed and hung on the wall. For example: “Love is voluntary. Everyone has the right to love anyone. But no one can force someone else to love them”, “Sex is something adults do with adults”.
Beautiful drawings by Joelle Turlonias complement this book.

Nowadays, children learn about sex early. Therefore, it is better to tell them themselves than to get some distorted information, who knows from whom, with distorted values, and then hide it from their parents.
Also, many people are still offended by their parents because they did not have a conversation with them on this topic at one time.
So this book will not only help to talk about sexuality, but also strengthen the relationship between parents and children. It will also help to establish family values.
“Not in a Cabbage and Not a Stork” is a well-written book about where children come from.
1) The illustrations are cute and nice to look at. Looking through the book, you feel that everything is natural and innocent (there is no feeling of lust or shame).
2) The book is written in the form of a dialog in a family – between twins (Oscar and Mia) and their parents, who are expecting a baby. The children ask questions – the parents explain well and clearly – and we (the readers) seem to have nothing to do with it.
3) The writing is short and clear. Easy for a child to understand.
4) The text was created together with doctors and approved by many teachers.
I recommend it to everyone.

This is the first book I’ve ever come across that covers childhood stuttering in such an incredible way: “How I came to be”. Parents often try to evade the answer or come up with various tall tales. I believe that a child should know the truth, you just need to choose the right words, maybe you should omit some points and tell how it really is. Nowadays, children are developing rapidly, and I think it would be right for a child to learn the truth from you.
The book explained very well how everything happens from the very beginning to the birth of a child. Everything in the book is great, maybe it was worth omitting the story about sex.
There are a lot of beautiful illustrations that help a child understand the whole point better. It tells what the difference is between girls and boys. How two children can appear, and in what cases twins appear, and when twins appear.
Before you decide to read it to your child, read it yourself to make sure that you really want your child to know how everything happens, or maybe you want to omit some points.
