This is another small encyclopedia from the publishing house “Ranok” about our planet Earth. There is a lot of general information: how the Earth rotates on its axis and around the Sun, why the day alternates with the night and how the seasons change, with descriptions of each season (the weather, what happens to the plants and animals during this period), what the climate is and where it is warm and cold on the planet, what forests are like depending on what trees grow there and what happens to them in the different seasons. We are introduced to the desert, its flora and fauna, and other features, we learn about the savannah and its inhabitants, we read about tropical rain forests and their inhabitants, about eternal winter in the Arctic and Antarctic, the polar night, northern lights, the polar day, icebergs, and completely different animals that live at different poles. We get acquainted with information about mountains, their flora and fauna, avalanche and caves with stalactites and stalagmites, we study water literacy: streams, rivers, names of their parts, seas and oceans, the difference between them and their features and inhabitants, we read about minerals and which of them we use every day. The information, though brief, is all to the point and accessible. Information is clearly structured. The book turned out to be informative. Illustrations are as usual at the top + rhymes. In this encyclopedia instead of page with quests, there is information about ecology and saving our planet. A decent little book for the money in a softcover. Suitable for children from 4 years old.

When we found out about the newest addition to the Encyclopedia of the Preschooler series from Ranok Publishing House, we immediately bought it and added it to our collection. We are very pleased with the content, quality and format of the previous editions of this series. “Our Planet” also did not disappoint.
From this book, the child learned more about how the Earth lives in different seasons, what kind of forests are, what can be seen in the desert, what animals live in the savannah, jungle, mountains, rivers and seas, in the Arctic and Antarctic, and got acquainted with the concepts of the earth’s axis, climate, dune, drought, and aurora borealis. The information about where a river comes from and where it goes, what a stream, tributary, channel, bend and mouth are, was interesting and new to her.
The spread about what the Earth gives us, namely natural gas, salt, oil, chalk, graphite, clay, and precious stones, is very successful and informative. Also important is the last page about ecology, about the need to take care of our home called Planet Earth.
Wonderful poems successfully complement the information read. The illustrations, as always, are very beautiful and realistic. The younger child, at the age of two, is still only looking at the pictures, but with my older four-year-old daughter, we have a good and useful time reading this part of the preschooler’s encyclopedia.

The book “Our Planet” was ordered after good impressions from the book about space from the same series and at the same time with the book about dinosaurs. The format of the book is convenient, the pages are made of coated paper, thick. The illustrations are bright. There are several topics in the book. The child at 2.8 liked reading about the seasons, the desert, the savannah and the rainforest, where the stream runs.
The pages about the seasons depict the most typical features of that season. When we read, for example, about mushrooms and berries in summer, the child listened carefully and looked for them in the pictures. This indicates that the book is definitely interesting. At first, I thought that some of the information was too complicated for this age, but when the child began to mention without the book that the place where the river flows into the sea or ocean is called the mouth, all doubts disappeared. It was easy to remember why zebras need stripes and baobabs. I recommend the book, it is a very good budget version of the encyclopedia for young children. For the promotional price, it is generally very good) We will continue to collect a series of encyclopedias for preschoolers.
