We were looking forward to the continuation of this wonderful Blackberry Hedge series! The illustrations of “Spring Story” are just incredible. They are full of warm spring mood. A world of interesting adventures, warm impressions and vivid emotions opens up before the reader. In the story, you can get acquainted with a restless little mouse whose birthday fell on the heyday of spring. The inhabitants of the Blackberry Hedge find out about it and decide to surprise the birthday boy. They carefully prepare for the celebration, which is to take place in the form of a picnic on a green, fragrant lawn. Everyone prepares something and chooses a gift for the mouse. The following describes how the celebration of such a wonderful event will take place, because springtime is the best time for warm impressions. This topic will resonate with all young readers, because what could be better than celebrations, surprises, friends and cozy gatherings in the spring forest!

Picked up 2 books from this series right away, but now I plan to buy 3 more and any subsequent ones that come out.

Each book has one story, which is enough to read to a child at bedtime or just for easy independent reading in the future. The font is large enough and the pages are very thick and pleasant to the touch. The test is beautifully written and easy to read, immediately conjuring up all the beauty described.

The illustrations are a separate topic – for the sake of them and was bought the book, as the child loves the pictures and often tells the story only as she sees pictures. The illustrations here are a masterpiece: everything is drawn in such detail, there are many rooms with different uses, which are very interesting to look at and to invent/discuss what the mice are doing there.

The stories themselves in the books are cute, but no more than that, no deeper meaning or anything educational – but there’s no need for that here. So far I read to my daughter before bedtime – she likes it. Next time she’ll read for herself – for her first books it’s a great option.

This story will come in handy if you want sunshine, freshness, movement, and a holiday (but not a quiet and peaceful one like Christmas, for example). Even the illustrations here are the quintessence of spring impatience, the desire of all things to live and grow, with lots of blue sky and sunshine… All this from the very first page puts a child (at least my 4-year-old daughter) in a “fighting” mood – this book is never the last one before bedtime, it is too energetic!

The birthday theme will resonate with any person, especially with kids who are just beginning to understand the peculiarity of this holiday – my daughter roots for Myros every time as sincerely as the first time, and every reading is a fountain of emotions! From the cycle about the seasons, this is the most “active” story for us.

The illustrations complement the content of the book very well. It is interesting for children to look at them. I recommend purchasing all parts of this series “Blackberry Hedge”. It will be a perfect gift for any family holiday.

In this part, the mice are celebrating again – the birthday of little Myros. He is quite a mischievous boy, but the Blackberry Hedge enthusiastically took up the organization of a festive picnic for the little one. The whole village came together, and it created an extremely pleasant feeling of family comfort, unity, and even a miracle.

Gifts, goodies, adults fussing to please the kids – it all reminds me of childhood, and it’s heartbreaking.

Burrows, barns, castles are depicted in the book’s pages in section – it stirs the imagination so much that you want to draw some cozy place where the mouse characters live.

The series “holds the mark” and this book will delight fans of Jill Barklem’s work no less than the others.
