Are you used to cooking only potatoes in a clay pot? Until recently, I used to do the same. However, thanks to Iryna Tumko’s book Cooking in Pots Every Day and for the Holidays, I managed to significantly improve my culinary skills and learn a lot of interesting details about the intricacies of cooking in pots. Probably, most people are used to cooking borscht in a pot, but it turns out that borscht tastes much better when cooked in a pot in the oven. Of course, borscht in the oven sounds rather strange, but in fact, the ingredients of this seemingly unusual first course are no different from the traditional borscht ingredients: cabbage, potatoes, fresh mushrooms, onions, carrots, broth (I don’t eat meat, so I use vegetable broth), butter (I add vegetable oil instead), tomato paste, dill, ground black pepper, and salt… Do you think that first and second courses are all you can cook in a crockpot? You’re wrong, because you can also cook delicate soufflés, delicious pies, and an exquisite fountain in crockpots. But why am I describing all this in such detail? It’s better to buy this unique collection yourself to make sure that everything ingenious is simple, and culinary masterpieces are no exception to this rule.
