A small old coffee shop in Tokyo, located in the basement. It has a nice, quiet, mesmerizing atmosphere and serves delicious coffee.
There are a lot of coffee shops, but this one has its own zest.
Here you can not only drink delicious coffee, but also go back in time and not only in time.
Four women, four stories,
Four returns.
One wanted to get her love back, another wanted to get a letter from her beloved man, and another wanted to see her sister.
And they all wanted to go back in time to change the future.
But…
To go back in time, they had to follow a few rules.
1) You cannot meet people who have not been to this cafe at least once.
2) The present will not change. The future is possible.
3) There is only one chair on which you can go back to the past. And you can’t get up from it.
4) And the most important rule is that you have to go back before the coffee gets cold.
If you don’t, it won’t end well.
It was a little unusual for me to read all these Japanese names, and at the beginning of the book I was a little confused. But by the end I got used to it.
Four interesting fates. Especially the last one, which made me cry.
I also think there were some inconsistencies. Or maybe I’m used to reading books that are without fiction and all factual.

Four stories set in a small cafe in Tokyo. Each of them is about our lives. A mysterious cafe, coffee that is unusual for the Japanese, and the fates of people who dream of correcting the mistakes they made in the past. But, unfortunately, this is impossible. Yes, for a moment, until the coffee cools down, you can sit on a magic chair and travel back in time, say different words, look your sister or beloved husband in the eye once again, but it is impossible to stop the progression of Alzheimer’s disease or the death of a family member. I found the third story to be extremely touching – about two sisters, one of whom will have to die. It made me cry and hurt. Once again you are convinced how words can touch you.
The book is small in size and has an extremely nice binding. It is read in one breath. And after each story, it leaves a mark on your heart. And you unwittingly conclude that you need to appreciate love, the time spent with your family and loved ones, you need to live and enjoy every moment. Because the present cannot be changed…
But we can change the future.

I love these stories – about coffee, about love, about meetings. They are so warm that you can’t stop reading. The cover is also very nice. The plot and the essence of this book is generally unexpected and interesting. After reading it, I wondered what we could say to those people who have left us if we had such a cafe in our lives. And yet, in every place where we have met people dear to us, we can bring them back in our memories. Very good book, Japanese names are beautiful, I wish there were more books like this)

It’s been a long time since I read the works of Japanese authors, though I used to love them a lot. Toshikazu Kawaguchi reminded me of my love. This book is divided into four parts. They are about stories of different people, but each story flows very smoothly, incredibly masterfully into the next. These stories are about a cafe, about which there is an entertaining legend and even an article written in the newspaper. In a cafe, you can go back in time. There are many rules to follow, one of them is to go back to the present before the coffee in your cup gets cold. And another rule is out of your control, however, it exists – there is no way you can change the present, no matter what you do, fate will turn everything the way it was. So few people are interested in this cafe, and this opportunity to be in the past. Only some people who dare to travel back in time know why they do it and what they can change for themselves. But honestly, the book doesn’t remind me much of The Time Traveler’s Wife. But it is just as sad and moving. Four simply heartbreaking stories. None of them will leave you indifferent.

This book is perfect for coffee lovers and fantastic stories. You will plunge into the book and be captivated by all the events described.
⠀
So there is a small coffee shop. It serves seemingly ordinary coffee, but there is one secret. You can go back to any day in the past and fix whatever you want. Perhaps someone wants to make peace with someone, someone wants to see a dear person, someone just wants to feel nostalgic for those times.
But you have to go back before the coffee in your cup gets cold.
⠀
The book is really great. Although I am not a coffee drinker, I recommend this particular drink while reading it.
⠀
Although there are not many pages, you can read it in one evening or in a couple of hours, but the story will not leave anyone indifferent.
⠀
The main advice is to live in the present, not to dwell on the past and look forward to the future.
⠀
Suitable for light reading before bed, on vacation, or after a hard day.
The message is clear and understandable, the characters are endearing, and the smell of coffee seems to be in the air.
