Ukrainian cuisine is so multifaceted and versatile that you can improve your skills in cooking Ukrainian dishes all your life. Of course, Ukrainian dishes predominate in my kitchen, but from time to time, in search of something new and interesting, I look at various cookbooks and cook something new, not at all typical of our cuisine, such as Chinese cuisine, Italian cuisine, Spanish cuisine, and others. This time I decided to improve my skills in cooking Ukrainian dishes and at the same time learn some interesting new recipes, so I bought the book “Ukrainian Holiday Table. From Zakarpattia to Slobozhanshchyna” by Vivat Publishing House. Why did I choose this book, because I read several positive reviews, and the book itself “Ukrainian Holiday Table. From Transcarpathia to Slobozhanshchyna” made a very positive impression on me, the cover is extremely beautiful, all the pages are smooth, the illustrations are very picturesque and appetizing, this book can be bought as a gift. As for the recipes themselves, unfortunately, I did not find anything extremely new for myself, of course, I tried to cook several recipes right away, it turned out quite tasty!

It’s not that the recipes disappointed me, but they didn’t impress me either. After reading the reviews, I decided to buy it. All that is fascinating about it is the colorful drawings, hard cover and thick, high-quality paper, nothing more. The design is really impressive.

What can I say about the recipes? Nothing special!!! Most of them have been known to me for a long time, despite the fact that I am only 28 years old and I do not consider myself a master of cooking. Therefore, I think that these recipes will not offer anything new to ladies of a more respectable age. Perhaps someone will like them as a gift. However, I would not recommend it. There are much better books in terms of design and recipes.

I bought it mostly for the relatively low price of the book. It justifies its price. But I still wanted some originality. Alas…

In fact, the recipes fully correspond to the title of the book. However, I do not recommend serving most of these dishes on a festive table. No hostess will surprise her guests with this. They have neither originality nor sophistication, let alone look. The recipes are from the time of our grandmothers’ youth. Moreover, my grandmother taught me better recipes from Prykarpattia than those in the book. The author has not collected all the information!

We bought this wonderful cookbook as a gift for our beloved aunt. She loves to cook a variety of Ukrainian dishes. From Zakarpattia to Slobozhanshchyna” by the well-known author Liudmyla Lapshyna, who managed to collect and present such a wonderful collection of Ukrainian holiday dishes in a very beautiful and professional manner, which will undoubtedly please all housewives and relatives, friends, and dear guests. This surprisingly picturesque and very interesting book was published by the well-known and popular Vivat publishing house, written in the colorful and beautiful Ukrainian language. This edition of “Ukrainian Holiday Table. From Transcarpathia to Slobozhanshchyna” was published in two thousand eighteen. I would like to note very positively the artistic design and content of this wonderful cookbook: The composition and the required amount and weight of the necessary initial products for each dish are clearly and precisely presented, as well as the process of preparing and cooking the dishes is described in detail and very well; a very large number of recipes are presented, each hostess will be able to choose her own dish, which will undoubtedly become the most favorite for her family and guests; small drawings for each of the presented dishes are beautifully and delicately selected, and extremely bright, colorful, beautifully designed images of the dishes themselves, as well as options for serving them are presented. A wonderful and indispensable assistant in preparing for solemn and festive events. This cookbook will be a very valuable and wonderful gift for your friends, family and loved ones!
