I devoured the book in an evening.

Sometimes it was really interesting, especially about the goddesses of beer and the description of the brewing process itself.

And sometimes I got mad… the most annoying thing was some distorted vision of history, from ancient times, through the Middle Ages, and to the Second World War, all events are presented as if the development of mankind, victory in the war, or the vector of society’s development depended on beer. It may be a joke, but for some reason I was really outraged.

Another thing that surprised me a bit was the emphasis on American beer. If you’ve ever been to the States and drunk what they call beer, you’ll understand me 🙂 But I didn’t drink any craft beer in America, so maybe I’m just out of touch.

But what really attracted me to the History of Beer is the illustrations, they are just bombastic, and it’s safe to say that they are the highlight of the comic! Different styles, techniques, formats. The quality of the colors and paper is probably the reason why I finished this book.

So if you’re not a historian (or a historian with a sense of humor), if you love beer (or know a little about it), and if you like visual presentation of information, this book is for you.

In general, it is a perfect gift for beer lovers.
