For me, as a lover of art, various symbols and secret messages, this book was an incredible find. The detective is read in one breath! (but I do not recommend reading it to very religious people)
I really liked the main characters – Landon and Sophie! Their joint work in uncovering a secret that has been passed down for centuries was unsurpassed! And the hidden symbols in the works of great artists also interested me a lot! When it came to Da Vinci’s legendary fresco “The Last Supper,” I pulled out my phone and opened the image of the painting to make sure what I was reading was true!
This book as a whole made me think and rethink the history of mankind and outdated views that have reached our present. So I really recommend reading it!
P.S. I liked the book more than the movie adaptation.

A book worth reading simply because it does not sow doubt, but rather strengthens faith. Why? In our time, when the concepts of faith, love, family life, motherhood, fatherhood are leveled – it is important to understand that our faith is based on these values that make human life meaningful, spiritual, full and preservation of which gives hope to man and the whole civilization to develop and not to atrophy of our souls… The only thing I would like to wish is a better Ukrainian translation of the book. The Ukrainian language is developed, rich and emotional. I would like the translation to be “live”.

I’ve been familiar with Dan Brown’s work since high school. I should be – there was so much hype around The Da Vinci Code! In fact, for a long time I sincerely liked his work. Dynamic, twisting plot, action and detective component – what else do you need for an entertaining read? But that is just what reading – for the role of serious intellectual literature of his creativity well does not fit!
Of course, the understanding of this came only with time, when my reading baggage has become much more. And now if I have to choose between Dan Brown’s new book and any novel by Umberto Eco which I haven’t read before, I will choose the latter. Maybe it’s because I’ve had enough of Brown’s work, or maybe it’s because his books are pseudo-intellectual. There’s nothing wrong with that, of course. It’s just that the level of hype surrounding them is unnecessary. There’s nothing outstanding about them, they’re nothing but tabloid reads for once.
Of the undoubted pluses, as I said – a fascinating plot. What Brown can’t take away is his ability to create an intriguing maelstrom of events. Another good thing is engaging the reader in culture and history. Yes, to be sure, his books have inaccuracies. But it is strange to look for historical and factual inaccuracies in a fiction text. This is not a documentary. And if a person likes this book, who knows, maybe he will start looking for other sources and take an interest in the topic. If not professionally, then at least for general development.
However it is necessary to note, that themes are opened superficially, with an obvious bend in conspiracy. That is why his books will appeal to fans of global conspiracies. I am no longer interested.
The plots could have been made deeper in terms of drama and psychology. And the characters, for the most part, turned out to be overly formulaic and faded. If you take not only the “Da Vinci Code” but the entire series as a whole, you can count the truly bright and memorable characters on the fingers of one hand.
Bottom line: The book is suitable for those who just want to relax and turn off the brain. If you are looking for truly intellectual literature, this is not the place for you. I ended my acquaintance with the adventures of Langdon on Inferno, and I’m not sure I’ll continue – I’ve outgrown it. There are more complex, deeper, and no less fascinating books.

Dan Brown – my favorite modern writer, all his books I buy as soon as they appear and read with great pleasure.
The plot is always unpredictable and the action unfolds very quickly. The descriptions are very realistic, detailed and vivid.
“The Da Vinci Code” is the first of his books that fell into my hands. The first time I read it just steadily, the second time – already with a laptop, looking for all the historical places and works of art mentioned in the novel. And when we were in Paris – with pleasure walked through the places mentioned in the book. A real pleasure to read, I highly recommend it!
