A wonderful book that allows children as young as four to understand the emotions that bother them and which they cannot always cope with. Anger, envy, jealousy, sadness, shame – these are just some of the emotions described in the book. The book describes not only negative but also positive emotions. At the end of each story, you will find a definition of the feeling the story is about and tips for children and parents. The tips for children describe how they should behave when they feel a certain emotion, and the tips for parents describe how to react and talk about emotions.
This book will appeal to preschoolers because the main characters in the stories are preschoolers, their teacher, and a pajazzik. The book is written in a language that is easy for children to understand. While reading and discussing the story, a child can easily identify with the hero of the story and better understand himself or herself.
Each feeling is accompanied not only by a story, but also by an illustration that perfectly conveys the child’s facial expression and behavior when he or she is overcome by a particular feeling.
I recommend this book to anyone who wants to help their child interpret feelings correctly, understand themselves and their reactions, and help themselves respond appropriately to their child’s emotions.

I recently read the following results of sociological research: 58% of librarians read books, and 34% of them read to be “a participant in the reading process and its popularizer”! The picture is disappointing))) I am a school librarian and I was not asked about this, I did not take such a survey, if I had, I would have written that I read such children’s books.
Because I like to read children’s books, because such a book is a special world, because you plunge into childhood and at the same time evaluate the situation as an adult.
“The Big Book of Feelings is the last children’s book I read to popularize it among my school readers. “The Big Book of Feelings” includes various stories about sudden and complex feelings that come to each of us: sadness, shame, anger, resentment, joy, love, hate, happiness, fear, guilt… You will find out how to deal with them in this book. And at the end of each story there is advice for children and advice for adults. And yet, there is a whole section on what primary school children are most interested in – “Horror! Or Where Children Come From!”

A young Mrs. Milka comes to work in the older group of an ordinary kindergarten, and she comes with her assistant, Payatsyk, from the puppet theater. Their task is to tell the little ones about feelings. In principle, this is the whole idea of the book. At first, the author depicts an episode dedicated to a certain emotion or feeling, and then the description of this feeling follows. Moreover, the description is given both for children, in a language they understand, and separately for adults (what to pay attention to in the first place, what situations can be modeled, what tasks to do to better clarify a particular emotion for a child).
My child and I were especially pleased with the part “Where do children come from”. It was very fun to follow the versions of kindergarteners. The author also managed to describe the entire delicate process in two pages, almost on the fingers, but without going into much detail. Just enough for a preschool child.
The only thing I didn’t like a bit was some of the sketches on the basis of which the author depicts emotions. A few of them seemed to me to be pulled by the ears and somewhat exaggerated.

The big book of feelings
On the advice of a friend, I bought this book. We read the book again and again. Wonderful illustrations, high-quality printing, and just a very cool translation. It enriches the language very much. After this book, all bangs became manes, and boiled onions are really disgusting. These words have become permanent in our vocabulary.
For me, the most interesting and worthy of attention was the first part of the book about feelings. There is a lot of humor. A lot of dialogues. Both my children, aged 4 and 6, were delighted. Although since they did not go to a regular kindergarten, some things were not clear to them. But not many.
The chapters are organized by different feelings. The characters live them, discuss them and draw conclusions. At the end of each chapter, there is a definition of the term feeling. And advice for parents and children. These tips should be used and discussed. Then everything you read makes sense.
Personally, as an adult, I thought the book was very deep, it is interesting for children because it is written with humor. It is impossible to understand the depth of some thoughts at the age of 5. But at the age of 9-10, children hardly ever come to read about kindergarten.
I want to write separately about the chapter “Horror. Or Where Children Come From”. I was not careful and did not pay attention to this chapter and did not read it in advance. I must say that the chapter is written in a funny, witty way. But still, I was not ready for some things. It’s hard to explain to preschoolers about spermatozoa, which are quite frankly drawn on the entire spread. Still, such details are not explained to children at preschool age. And the second thing is that when Ms. Milka was pregnant, she was not married, but was still dating Mr. Kuba. Of course, this is the modern world. But I’m sticking to telling young children that children are born in marriage. For me, it is important to instill this view. Perhaps this section is for older children. But again, the events take place in a kindergarten.
Overall, we enjoyed the book a lot.

Our whole family is delighted with the book!
My mom and grandma are arguing over who will read the story to the child today! Even adults are so curious to know what will happen in the next chapter! By reading, a child understands the origin of all emotions. And the most important thing is that all our feelings are natural and normal, that you are not “bad” even when you are angry.
It is amazing how easily and simply the book describes such difficult emotions for a child to understand. Everything is explained in simple words using the example of one day in kindergarten. The “kindergarten” passions of the main characters are described very accurately. At first, I was a little worried about whether the child would be able to understand so many characters and their unusual names for Ukraine. But from the second or third story, my son became so involved in the plot. The characters are described very holistically.
The sections “tips for children” and “tips for parents” are very useful. Here are tips on how to act correctly in different emotional situations.
The book is perfectly complemented by wonderful and accurate illustrations. High-quality paper and layout.
We read it and laughed!
Bravo to the author!
