When I saw this book on the website, I immediately wanted to buy it, but when I received it, I was a little disappointed. Yes, the book is really big, but it is too “thin”. The 4 large spreads are impressive. I really liked the page with amazing facts about the body and the quiz at the end. A lot of information is not included in the book, which children would also like to read. But for some reason the author decided not to include it in his book. The illustrations sometimes impress with their gigantic size, and sometimes disappoint with their miniature. There is not much text in this book. It is more of a book for looking at. Looking at the book on the website and reading the reviews, I expected a wow effect from the book, but it was not there. In my opinion, this price is not quite right for this book. There are much more interesting and cheaper books, as well as better and more expensive ones. And there are books with the same price, but more information. I don’t recommend buying this book to read to children. Except to enhance the visualization. Because the 4 large pages may interest your children. They will want to learn more about the structure of the body and its functions. So it’s up to you to buy this book or not.

We bought a book by Minna Lacey with color illustrations by Peter Allen, The Big Book of the Body, for our six-year-old daughter. She was delighted! The book is very beautiful, with many bright colored drawings (which is very important for us), thick pages, accessible and concise writing, four large sections (how our skeleton is built, how our muscles function, what is the structure and how our heart works, how food is digested by the body).
The child looked at the pictures with pleasure and could read what was written in it. There is little text, the material is accessible and interestingly presented. Now my daughter knows that the heart is like a motor in a car, she likes to look at the bones on the skeleton scan, and when she eats, she tells me how our food is digested. I was also wondering where her little brother came from) and I didn’t have to make it up, everything is drawn and described in this wonderful book, just for kids aged 5-8, nothing superfluous.
“The Big Book of the Body” is a very beautiful and concise color encyclopedia about the human body and a great find not only for children but also for adults.
I do not agree with the previous review, because if you need more information, there are other encyclopedias, more detailed, all for their age.
I highly recommend it for reading and as a gift!

A real encyclopedia about the anatomy of the body in a colorful version! A vivid explanation to a child of the structure of the human body, which gives so many answers to the constant children’s questions: how do we see, and why does the heart beat, why am I tired? and many others)
A book that combines everything: accessibility of text, beautiful pictures and illustrations, schematic drawings, descriptions. The advantages can be listed for a long time! The book is interesting to both child and adult, which explains how the body is organized, what the body is made of, how the organs work and why they are needed, you can learn interesting information about their health and prevention, to keep your body in a “healthy mind”.
A special delight are the 4 huge spreads, thanks to which it is possible to study the human skeleton, muscles, heart and digestive system. Just studying them takes a long time, spent with the benefit)
And an equally important part of the encyclopedia about birth, which allows you to tell a child in an accessible way about such an important and often questioned process.
Only positive reviews, I recommend it!

In my opinion, The Big Book of the Body is an excellent basic basis for studying anatomy at school in high school, because the book is designed to be read by children from the age of five, because it is written in an easy-to-understand form and the information is presented in an interesting way, plus it is supported by appropriate color drawings that help to understand and memorize everything better.
Another unique highlight of the book is the presence of four large fold-outs that will impress even adult readers, and children will be doubly interested in learning about our bones, muscles, how our heart pumps blood throughout the body, and how food is digested in our body.
For each topic, in addition to the basic information, there are also short interesting facts that may be informative for adults (especially those who are not professionally related to medicine), and there is even a separate section on “Amazing Facts about the Body.”
At the very end of the book, there is a section called “Quiz”, which consists of questions on the content of the book, so we can check how the child has memorized the information and, if necessary, re-read the relevant materials so that there are no gaps in knowledge.
The quality of the book itself is top-notch: high-quality, colorful, thick cover, well-stitched pages.

Encyclopedic books are incredibly numerous, and there are all kinds of topics: plants, animals, machinery, robots, space, dinosaurs, planet Earth, science, chemistry, history, and so on and so forth. But of course one of the most requested topics by children (even at preschool age) is the structure of the human body.
And so I finally met a novelty from the publisher of Art Books “Great Book about the body” and admired. There are colorful pictures by Peter Allen who illustrated more than one encyclopedia, and lots of facts (both useful and funny), and the successful presentation of the text in small blocks, and general tips for better health (like the fact that people with high blood pressure should eat a lot of fruits and vegetables, move more and refrain from too salty foods), and the presence of already 4 large spreads, which are dedicated to the skeleton, internal organs, muscles and circulatory system.
This book will not leave a child or an adult indifferent, and would make an excellent gift. I think it will especially interest pre-school children.
