Buy Book "Spanish Love Deception" in Ukrainian

I bought the book on pre-order along with another one from Vivat Publishing House. And if it wasn’t for the positive impressions I had after reading the first book, I would never have finished this one in my life. I had certain expectations, at least that this book would be on par with the previous one. But I was very wrong.

It’s very obvious that this is a debut novel, because there are a lot of mistakes, plot holes, clichés, stereotypes, and inaccuracies. In addition, either the author has a small vocabulary or it is a mistake of the translators, but the phrases “blue eyes” and “a pair of blue eyes” make my eyes twitch. In two paragraphs, these phrases are repeated three times! And more than sixteen times in the whole book! The description of people’s appearance is completely unrealistic and hyperbolic. With each chapter, the main character becomes bigger, taller, wider – I was already afraid that by the end of the book he would burst. The heroine is a passionate Spaniard only according to the author, but in reality she is a hunted puppy who cannot defend herself. She is so dependent on the opinions of others that she decided to lie, to create another fictional life for herself, to hide her real self. And all for the sake of what? Because her ex will be at the wedding and with the bride, and therefore she needs to find a man, because without him she will be a miserable failure in the eyes of others who has not recovered from the breakup.

I don’t know what kind of mentality the Spaniards have, but I am definitely disgusted by the behavior of the protagonist’s relatives, who didn’t care about the situation with the ex and decided to invite him because he was the groom’s brother! I don’t care what happened to them. I’m disgusted that even at the end of the book the heroine is unable to defend her reputation and dignity and relies on others. It is disgusting that the book illustrates that a woman cannot be happy without a man. The ending is terrible.

This “hatred” between the characters is also only according to the author. I only saw the hero doing something for the heroine, and she irritably refused his proposals, because she is vindictive and never forgives, such is the hot Spanish blood. Actually, no. It looks pathetic.

But the worst part is the lack of a plot. There is simply no plot. Skip any chapter or even two and you won’t lose anything. Because nothing happens. The secondary characters play no role, I can’t even remember their names. The main characters stretch elementary things into long pages. The arch with the auction is absolute rubbish. What was the problem with the hero’s refusal to use it if he didn’t like it? Why didn’t he just tell the heroine where they were going and what she was going to do? Why is this stretching of the void? This is such a mediocre storyline that you wonder how the author came up with it. There is no sense, no logic, no interest, nothing. It’s just empty words for the sake of the book’s length.

The ending only made me more angry and finally put an end to this “book”. How can I sympathize with a character who wasn’t even mentioned normally throughout the book and was introduced only at the very end? I hate it when authors speculate on readers’ emotions because of illness. Cancer, an accident, a coma – it’s already tired. And it doesn’t work if the readers don’t know the story.
