I accidentally came across this rare copy of Python for Kids and, of course, immediately decided to buy it for my daughter (and I’m interested in diversifying my knowledge a little bit myself). The arguments that guided me in purchasing this book were: 1. Programming develops creativity, logical thinking, and problem-solving skills. 2. Python is a modern programming language, and it’s easy to write in it, like writing down your thoughts. This book is surprisingly easy to read, everything is clear. A child who knows how to read and wants to learn the basics of programming can understand everything that is written here without any help. I am just delighted to have come across this book. And my child enjoys reading it, which is important to me. The book starts with instructions on how to install Python – very detailed, illustrated, for different operating systems, which is important. For some reason, the most difficult thing is always to start something, and if this start is successful, it is more likely that the child will be able to read the book to the end with benefit and acquire new programming skills.

And what is your relationship with… programming? Yes, yes, can you write at least one program? Because my knowledge of computer science, the one I had at school, never made me want to show off, and as soon as this nice book from Staryi Lev Publishing House came out, I immediately set my eyes on it. I thought I would finally learn the basics of what almost all children will be cracking like nuts in a few years! So, in order to keep up with the challenges of our time (so to speak), I started learning programming in my thirties.)

That’s what I love about today’s children’s science literature, especially foreign literature, is the extraordinary creativity in presenting very dry material! You have to love what you do to teach literally everyone the simplest programming language, which is Python (if you associate this name with python, you should know that it is in his honor), in a fun, absolutely easy way.)

So what is Python and what is it eaten with? It is an expressive and functional programming language, an absolute must know for a beginner programmer. Compared to other languages, its code is easy to read, it has an interactive shell that is convenient for experimentation, and, attention, it can be used to create simple animations to create your own games. Speaking of games. Having mastered this manual without paying for it, you will be able to create two absolutely complete games: “Skok!” and “Mr. Stick Hands Runs to the Exit”.

As for the name of this language. It is named after the British comedy show of the 1970s, Monty Python’s Flying Circus.

“Programs are somewhat like thoughts. If we didn’t have thoughts, we’d probably just sit on the floor, stare at nothing and drool on our shirt. But the thought “get up off the floor” is like an instruction or a command that tells our body to get up. Similarly, computer programs tell computers what to do.” How does this analogy sound?

At the moment, it’s hard to find a good book on programming in Ukrainian, because it either provides outdated information, or explains it in an extremely complicated way, or provides information in fragments. This book is a completely different thing. The author skillfully presents the information in such a way that it is understandable not only to a beginner in programming, but also to a school-age child. It is immediately obvious that the author understands what he is writing about in his book and knows how to properly present and explain everything that is described there.

Like any other book on programming, it starts teaching the reader from the basic concepts of programming and gradually prepares him for more difficult and complex things.

Unlike many other books on programming (not only on Python, but also on other programming languages), it even describes where and how to install an environment for programming in this programming language.

The book will give you not only an understanding of how the programming process should be carried out, but also teach you how to work with functions and classes, which is an important skill in modern programming.

There are not many books on programming written in Ukrainian. Especially for children. So, when I came across a rare copy of this kind of literature, I didn’t hesitate to buy it.

Children will definitely like it. Of course, if they have reached the age when they want to create something rather than destroy it. This moment comes for everyone on a personal schedule. But that’s not what we’re talking about here.

The book immediately promises to be easy to read as soon as you look at the font size and the paper on which the book was printed. In addition, a huge advantage of the presentation of the material in this book is the use of the method of visualization. After all, in addition to the theoretical part, there is a detailed analysis of a real working program, in most cases – games. What could be better for teenagers to understand than a game?
