I continue to wonder how, such a simple story completely absorbs the attention of children and adults. Most likely, the secret is in the beautiful illustrations, which were created by the author himself. It seems to me there can be no story more harmonious when the pictures and text belong to the same person. After all, who better than the author to feel the atmosphere of his story. It seems to me beautiful).

This story took place in the vegetable garden when Petson decided to plant vegetables and potatoes. The cheeky chickens decided to dig up worms in the beds. The neighbor’s pig turned out to be madly fond of potatoes, and the cows don’t understand why they can’t graze in the beds at all.

Findus actually decided to grow patties, and it can not help but have fun. The story is a great one. It’s just terrific. Although it was a little hard for me to read in Ukrainian, the translation is a little difficult. As I personally thought. But this does not make the story worse.

The most important thing is that the child really likes the book, as well as the whole series about Finnus and Petson. After all, parents are always happy if the child is passionate about books).

If you are not yet familiar with Patson and Findus and if your reader is 3-5 years old, then Trouble in the Garden will be a great book to introduce the entire series. Especially if the little reader has seen a garden and the process of planting potatoes or other vegetables at least once.

My son goes to his grandmother’s house every summer, so the problem of gardening and chickens digging in the garden is very familiar and close to him. While reading, he came up with new ideas on how to keep chickens and other pests out of the garden. He was surprised by the cat’s desire to grow a cutlet – a very funny and touching moment.

The drawings of chickens, “no chickens allowed” signs, and funny little details are another story. The combination of text and incredible author’s drawings makes this book simply indispensable in a children’s library. I don’t think we will get bored reading it. Even me, although I have read it to my son a dozen times. And I have listened to it many times in my son’s free narration)))

I highly recommend this story to all parents and children with a good sense of humor.

Another book of adventures of Grandpa Patsy and Findus the cat. Spring has come and it’s time to plant a garden. Grandpa and Findus planted vegetables and potatoes, and Findus planted a cutlet in addition. But the chickens, seeing a lot of worms in the dug-up soil, happily pounced and had a feast on the beds, trampling all the beds along the way. Grandpa was forced to lock them in the chicken coop and plant the garden again. The next day, he and Findus saw that all the potatoes in the garden had been dug up and bitten through. It was the pig of Gustavson’s neighbor who had eaten them. For the second time, they had to replant the garden and work until nightfall, but on the third day, Grandpa and the cat found a herd of cows in their garden, which had trampled over everything and destroyed it. The disappointed cat gave up hope of growing a cutlet in the garden, but the garden had to be planted again, having previously repaired the fence so that no one would get into the yard and destroy the garden again. Throughout the story, Grandpa, as always, grumbles and acts unhappy with everything, chiding the cat for always taking things or putting them in a different place, but the cat seems to be a little more housekeeping than Patsy and knows exactly where things are. Grandpa’s grumbling and Findus’s instructive notes add a certain charm to the story.

It is a funny and instructive story for a child. However, it would be incomplete if it were not for the magnificent drawings – in fact, I bought the book primarily because of the drawings. Even without reading at the bottom, you can look at each page for a long time and carefully – each picture is detailed and contains something funny that does not catch your eye at first glance. It was the child who drew my attention to these details, and I didn’t even notice. The purpose of the book is from 3 to 5 years old, but it is not. For 3 years old it can be a bit difficult, except to look at the pictures, we did not go to 3 or 4 (I bought almost the entire series). Now the child is 6 – we read with pleasure.

Swedish children’s writer and artist Sven Nordqvist wrote and illustrated a series of books about the adventures of old Petson and Finnus the kitten. But how many books are in this series? I know of eleven, maybe someone has read more. The stories in the books are very entertaining and engaging, they do not get bored reading, and if you get tired, you can just look at the colored illustrations – they are on every page. In general, this is the most illustrated series I’ve had the pleasure of reading. First, in every story, some small or large adventure happens. Second, there’s always a kitten in the middle of it. Anyone who loves cats will understand me. Every time after planting the vegetables, someone trampled on them. I suspected it was the chickens, but they all said it wasn’t them. And it wasn’t the birds’ feet, it was a bigger beast. What could it be? Petson and Findus took turns guarding the vegetable garden and, lo and behold, the uninvited guest reappeared, it was the neighbor’s pig. This grunting lady made a terrible mess in Petson’s garden, trampling all the potatoes and carrots he had planted. The pig is amused, and Petson has a new job – to clean up the beds.

The book Patsy, Findus and the Trouble in the Garden is one of the books about the adventures of Patsy and Findus. It is not necessary to read all the books in the series. The book can be read separately and independently.

The story is simple and interesting. Spring has come and Farmer Patson is making beds. Findus the cat does not want to lag behind him. He does not like vegetables. So he decides to plant a meatball.

The chickens, who saw the fresh beds, turned the whole garden over in search of worms. Patson locks them in the chicken coop. But the next morning the garden is ruined again. The neighbor’s pig has turned over Patson’s garden. Patsy and Findus get to work and redo it all over again. The next morning, however, cows have taken over Patson’s garden. After chasing the cows away, Patson sets to work again. However, Findus the cat is disappointed and decides to plant his meatball in a pot on the windowsill.

There are many funny moments in the story that keep you laughing from the beginning to the end of the book.

There are many illustrations and they are wonderful. They show in detail how to dig a garden, plant seeds, and take care of the garden. All the pranks of Findus the cat look funny. And farmer Patson, as always, looks confused and grumpy.

The book is very well printed. The pages are stitched.

My daughter and I really liked the book. I advise parents to buy the book “Patsy, Findus and the Trouble in the Garden” by Sven Nurdqvist, and also to pay attention to other books by this talented artist and author. I am sure that your child will love the characters created by Sven Noordqvist.
