Sometimes it seems that fiction is just entertainment that you read to fill your free time with something. But through this type of literature, you learn much more of life’s wisdom, not to mention a broader outlook and rich imagination.
As for this first part of Little Women, it’s amazing how such a simple and everyday story can contain so much goodness, love, and faith.
The story is chronological, the girls are 11 to 16 years old, the most interesting things in their lives will happen much later. But this period of their lives will be crucial for them. Right now, they are taking the first steps towards self-awareness.
Each of the sisters has their own ambitions, talents and desires, but the most valuable and important thing in their lives is their family. This is their greatest wealth. The author makes it clear that poverty is not a sentence for smart and noble people, but a factor that makes you appreciate what you have.
The book is fascinating and inspiring. It becomes an example, a warning, and a guide.
But the most interesting thing is to come…

Holding in my hands a small book with a worn cover, on which the title “Little Women” was written in large letters in the original language, I wondered: Why is Louisa Alcott’s work being considered by almost adult people at our university?
When I was a child, I used to visit the city library often, always expecting something new. Until an elderly librarian with huge glasses offered me this small (for my age) book.
At that time, I followed one single rule: to read the entire personal list of children’s literature over the summer. Reading book after book, I gradually changed my worldview, adopted the character and behavior of the main characters…
Unfortunately, with my fast reading, I didn’t pay attention to the little things. Little Women turned out to be a kind and sweet story of four sisters. I remembered their images, the stories that happened to each girl, but everything was so fleeting that by the end of the summer I didn’t remember their names.
That was my childhood. I experienced many bright and dim moments that changed (and still change) my life.
To be honest, I missed just a sweet story with young ladies who did things that I could not repeat in my modern existence.
A book re-read by a changed person,
a grown-up person.
is a completely different story.
(Max Frye, The Book of Solitude)
In fact, I attest to the truth of this quote. After all, to truly understand Louisa Alcott’s novel, I had to grow up. A paradox.
Relationships with parents are one of the most relevant topics in our lives today. So it was with the lives of the March sisters:
The girls fought for the love of their parents. Of course, it is somewhat specific, but the situation of that time is repeated more and more often in the lives of even my classmates.
The March sisters tried with all their young strength to convince their parents of their ability to be responsible for themselves and to stand up for their loved ones. They wanted to prove and show what they were really capable of with their whole being.
Each of the girls: Meg, Jo, Beth Amy, and Amy turned out to be extremely bright and individual characters. Putting myself in the shoes of a particular girl, I gladly accepted the whole essence of the character. That is, for a while, I became the heroine of the novel.
Only now have I realized the value of a written story. Perhaps some of the female readers will think that the book is no longer a reflection of our reality, but I will prove it.
Four girls, four sisters, four stories that interact with each other, merging into one, tell us about a significant stage – growing up.
An adult is not someone who is of legal age; not someone who was forced to start a family. But someone who has managed to gradually grow into a mature, adult personality:
They have learned the essence of friendship, understood the gradual nature of pure love, learned to take responsibility for their mistakes and protect the weak, and felt that they are an important part of the world, and only they can change any situation for the better.
The almost adult sisters: the prudent and slightly arrogant Meg, the hot-tempered and brave Jo, the kind

Little Women by Louise May Alcott is a very atmospheric book. It begins with the author describing four sisters who have different characters, different views on life and attitudes towards it, different dreams. Meg is gentle and sophisticated. Jo is a revolutionary. Beth is a hard worker, a house helper. Amy is elegant and always striving for wealth. And how they, being so different, get along in one house. These girls are very well-mannered and appreciate life, each other and what they have. The sisters take all the ups and downs with great dignity. They take care of each other. The book is very easy to read, with a nice font and design. It draws you into a whirlpool of pleasant emotions and impressions. All these events seem to emerge in our imagination from the first pages. It’s as if you want to get to these girls and meet them. Personally, I savored this book and read it a few pages a day to stretch the pleasure.
This novel is suitable for both adults (because it can bring them back to the world of fun childhood and adolescence for a short time) and teenagers, because it will teach them to appreciate what they have.

For me personally, this book is the first acquaintance with the classical literature of the 19th century. I can say with confidence that the work will appeal to both teenagers and adults, because the story of four sisters will not leave anyone indifferent.
You will observe the change in the characters and moral principles of the heroines, and also admire the love and friendship in the family of young girls. The book is not only instructive but also entertaining, and the fact that the novel is the autobiography of Louisa May Alcott herself adds even more desire to read it. For me, the best thing about the work is its atmosphere of warmth and harmony! One can only learn the ability to love and rejoice, which the main characters are endowed with. The book just radiates goodness! I think after reading the first part you will immediately pick up the second, as you will not be able to put it down! The heroines are completely different and this makes them unique in their own way.The girls do not live as well as you might think, but despite this they work and help their mother. And even poverty and war will not break you if you are patient.I would like to add when reading, do not forget to take a hot tea!

The four March sisters are trying to learn a similar outlook: Jo, Meg, Amy, and Beth. Each of the girls has a unique personality and throughout the story tries to learn how to use it for good. Each of the sisters has her own sand castle of dreams and works every day to open the door to it. Each little woman in this story lives with a desire to do good and make the world a better place! And since this desire is contagious, after reading the book, you will be filled with kindness and affection yourself))
“Little Women is a unique work that, in my opinion, deserves a place among the classics of literature! The story of four young people is not only fascinating for its sincerity, but also has an instructive message) The heroines live in poverty, but this does not prevent them from giving away Christmas breakfast to even poorer people. The girls have their own flaws, such as pride, stubbornness, stiffness, and narcissism. However, in each chapter, they invent new ways to make life bright and tame their own shortcomings.
For me, every part of the book was a real pleasure) I liked the simplicity with which the author, Louisa May Alcott, told the story. I also loved the vividness of the characters! But most of all, I loved the beauty of youth and childhood that shines through the whole work!
Of course, the March sisters faced difficult challenges on their way to the “Heavenly City” of dreams and hopes. However, I am glad that together with their family and friends, the sisters overcame the obstacles and did not lose their glorious faith, dignity, and love.
I think Little Women is a book that is truly worth the time. The story teaches kindness, which is sometimes so lacking in our world! Read it at least to fill your day with a smile) Because this warm story of Jo, Meg, Amy, and Beth will give you exactly that.)
