At first I was quite skeptical about this book. I don’t like over-hyped bestsellers. But one of the reviews on Instagram made me pay attention to this book. I liked that the main character has many interesting hobbies and collections. These include collecting colored patches, a collection of dolls’ body parts, and even a collection of vavoks. So I decided to start this series. My daughter is 9 years old. We read the first book together. We were both delighted with the humor, the plot, the characters. She immediately wanted to plant a flytrap at home and make a collage of herself. Then the child read the series by herself. She literally swallowed book after book. It was impossible to put it down. And then she enthusiastically retold all the interesting moments. So far, 10 books have been published. All of them have been read and none of them disappointed. Now this is my daughter’s favorite character. Before that, this place was occupied by Pippi Longstocking. And thanks to Judy, the arrival of a new male teacher at the school did not cause the child to feel negative (there were cases before). Because Judy Moody’s favorite teacher is a man. So now she is just like Judy Moody.

How did I learn about Judy Moody?

There was a reading marathon at our school. I chose “Judy Moody” among the books offered. And from now on, my parents are “forced” to buy me every new book in the series as soon as it comes out 😉 And this has been going on for 3 years now.

Among the main advantages of the book, in addition to the interesting content, are a convenient font (not small and not large) and many illustrations. And also a convenient format, smaller than an adult book.

Among the disadvantages that can be considered advantages is that the book can be read in one day.

The main character Judy is very funny. My favorite part was when Judy played a joke on Stink (her brother) when she scared him with a rubber hand from under the toilet lid.

Judy has two friends, Rocky and Frank. They have started a frog club and have come up with a very fun challenge to join.

Judy has a cat named Mouse. And Judy also has something she calls “my stinky pet.”

Judy is in third grade and has a funny and witty teacher named Mr. Todd.

To find out about all this in detail, I recommend reading this book. But I warn you, you won’t stop until you read them all.

My child really enjoys reading these mini-stories. I know that you can’t write/draw in books. But this book was an exception and I let my child color the book every time we read the next story. My child is 6 and the situations described in the book are very close and understandable to her. Every time after reading the book, my daughter got into a “drawing mood”, she was inspired and wanted to immediately color a picture with bright colors. This is because the solution to a situation that seems very difficult in her head is always positive and without punishment or aggravation. It is very good that it shows how parents should react to situations created by their daughter, which at first glance may seem not important for adults, but are extremely important and can change their child’s whole day and mood for a long time.

Without exception, all the stories or excerpts are very real and occur in life. We have not yet held frogs in our hands, but we have caught them with a net many times. Judy’s feelings when she doesn’t like someone or when she doesn’t want to attend a certain event are well described. It’s very realistic. And I even asked her to implement the idea of the collage at the after-school program as a project work in six months.

My daughter likes this kind of reading.

I saw the book on the website, read the positive reviews and bought it for my daughter (9 years old).

As soon as I got it, I immediately noticed that Judy’s story is very similar to my child’s. The girl’s mood changes frequently, her daughter is in the third (new) grade and she also has a younger brother. Everything is like in our family, this similarity bribed my daughter. I want to note that my daughter does not like to read and our reading technique is not very good. We started reading with a few pages, and I read the rest until the end of the chapter. Over time, my daughter read more and more pages, and she did not realize how she had read a whole chapter in one day. When she reached the 100th page, at first she could not believe that she had read so much herself.

It was clear that Judy’s story had captured her! My daughter began to read faster and this is a great achievement for us! It came as a surprise to me when my daughter asked me to buy her Judy Moody’s Diary. I took this opportunity to order another book from this series.

I recommend it to all children who do not like to read, with this book everything will change!

Megan McDonald is the American author of the famous Judy Moody series of books. The writer grew up in a large family, where she was the youngest fifth child. It was from her childhood that Megan got many ideas for her books and that is why this red-haired little restless girl became so popular, because every child sees themselves in Judy Moody, some in appearance, some in character traits, and some in actions. This book is not completely boyish or girlish, because Judy is sometimes a real boy in a skirt. She can easily climb a tree and then go play with her new patient doll. Judy Moody is a true friend for everyone.

“Judy Moody” is the first book to introduce a curious, inquisitive, cheerful and cheerful girl named Judy Moody, her parents and younger brother, friends and teachers. This story is one of the few that can serve as an example for the younger generation. This girl is an example of how to behave with peers and adults, how to react and perceive different situations, while the main character remains a child with her own pros and cons. Here are some reasons why you should read a book about this girl:

    * Judy learns to turn her defeats into her victories (she can even turn a juice stain into the outline of the state she lives in).

    * Judy knows how to turn a bad day into a good one (because only we can make it better or worse).

    * Judy makes compromises because she realizes that things will not always be as she wants them to be (she takes her little brother with her for walks, but that doesn’t mean she can’t make fun of him a little 🙂 ).

    * Judy is a loyal friend and learns to evaluate people not by their first impression (and in one second a boring party becomes interesting, and a silly classmate becomes a new friend).

    * Judy is responsible for her studies (if your homework project says you have to join a club and you don’t like any of them, just create your own!!!).

    * Judy learns to find a way out of any situation (what did I say about juice and a map?).

    * Judy is looking for her idols in history, not on TV (the first woman doctor is the one to follow).

    * Judy wants to become a doctor and is slowly working towards her goal (first we collect band-aids and teach about first aid).

    * Judy is looking for miracles in everyday life and sees beauty in simple things (space dust, a new club, a new hobby…).

    * Judy is a very good sister who doesn’t get angry with her little brother when he makes her feel bad (he’s her brother, you can’t stay angry with him for long).

    * Judy works hard to achieve something, and does not ask her parents or other adults for it (read the book and you will be delighted with this girl).

“Judy Moody” is a book that can interest children who do not want or do not like to read or study, because it is impossible to tear yourself away from this story, it is impossible not to want to read the next book about Judy. Despite her advantages, she remains a simple girl, not a brilliant ideal that no one can ever reach.
