“Circe” is the author’s second novel, but what a great one! The book is suitable for anyone who is interested in Greek mythology and would like to expand their knowledge. The plot centers on the sorceress Circe, who was abandoned by her family and sent to a desert island. This feminist novel tells the story of love, loss, heroism, and the mysterious figure of Greek mythology, Circe. The book fully justifies the positive reviews from readers and critics.
Also, I can confidently recommend this novel to everyone who has read the author’s debut work.

One of those books that pulls in the main characters.
It started with a little unloved girl of divine origin – ending with a powerful sorceress, loved and loved.
This mix of drama and fantasy I really enjoyed it…a godly story ! It even felt like more of a drama novel )
Really liked the main character. She is strong, courageous and human no matter what.
But the gods seemed too boring and formulaic. Except for Hermes. It was good that there were few of them.
I recommend it !

Since childhood, I have been fascinated by Greek mythology. Needless to say, my first “encyclopedia” was a big book about the myths of ancient Greece. And yet, I didn’t remember much about Circe, except perhaps the fact that she turned sailors into pigs.
Imagine my surprise when I started reading this book. Circe is an intricate and yet very simple character. She lives her quiet divine life, but something sets her apart from other gods and nymphs. And it is this “something” that we, the readers, are trying to unravel throughout the novel.
The author describes Circe’s world, both external and internal, in a very easy and interesting way. You understand the main character and empathize with all her emotional suffering. You admire how skillfully and skillfully she overcomes obstacles and does everything for her happiness. You simply live with her all those thousands of years and try to observe the life of a sorceress.
I had no expectations from this book, so I guess it impressed me anyway.
I recommend it to all lovers of the myths of ancient Greece and beyond. I am sure that this work will appeal to a large audience.

“Beneath the smooth, familiar surface of things, there is a second one that can’t wait to tear the world in two.”
The book will not leave indifferent both experts in Greek mythology and complete “dummies” in it. There is no unambiguous criticism or praise, which is a clear advantage: “Circe” is a completely coherent, enjoyable work, with a well-developed story based on real people’s perceptions, and will leave plenty of food for thought.
The story is told in the first person, from the demigoddess Circe, who gradually reveals the events of her life. The heroine combines both Olympic pride and the humility of a human woman who makes her own life.
According to the book’s description and official reviews on Western websites, Circe’s role as a heroine is clearly overrated. For some reason, she is painted as confident and dangerous, while the goddess herself rather shows more human qualities: fear, doom, and steadfastness. For me, immersing myself in Circe was most reminiscent of reading Gone with the Wind: both characters evoked a range of emotions, from sympathy to misunderstanding and disappointment, and an internal protest against their actions. But this is exactly what makes the character so vivid – the fact that the world is not divided into black and white is worth accepting.
Therefore, if you want to hear a story about feminism, the role of women in a man’s world, and other stories that are unknown to this work, this is not the place for you. But if your goal is to learn something new, to discover the ancient and to introspect in comparison with a half-goddess, enjoy. The book is really worth it!

I could not pass up this wonderful publication. Although I didn’t really like ancient Greek literature as a child, I decided to give these stories another chance. And I did not regret it!
The main character of the book is the daughter of the sun god Circe. She is the POV and we see everything through her eyes. It is very interesting to watch the girl grow up and become wiser. The book is only 399 pages long, but it is so eventful that you get the impression that you have read several volumes.
Circe had a hard life with her parents. Her brother and sister bullied her, her mother thought only of herself, and her father was indifferent. Children who did not inherit the divine power had a hard life. One day, Circe, because of her feelings, commits a great mischief and publicly confesses it. Having incurred the wrath of her father and frightened Zeus with her unexpected abilities, the girl goes into exile on a desert island.
It is on this island that we will spend about three quarters of the book. Here we will meet Hermes, Daedalus, Odysseus, Athena, and others. Their intrigues and treacherous actions keep the reader in suspense throughout the book.
The first chapters were easy to read, but then it was simply impossible to stop. I read until dawn. Not at all boring reflection of the characters, relevant and interesting narratives, characters evoke empathy. A strange interesting world. Wonderfully and skillfully written. Surpassed all expectations. I have already purchased The Song of Achilles.
