Okay, I’ll admit it, I was hesitant to buy this book: it was quite expensive for a publication for the youngest children, a picture book that can be read in a few minutes. Luckily, I was wrong: first, although it is indeed a picture book, it is unusually rough – it has more than a hundred pages, not 20-30; second, this book has every chance of becoming a favorite of both the child and the whole family, and I warmly recommend it to everyone. (And after reading it, you can also watch the cartoon based on it, it has the same name.)

In the City of the Sun live happily ever after two best friends – Mitcho the cat and Sebastian the elephant. One day, Mitcho fishes a bottle out of the sea and finds a mysterious seed in it. Planting it in his garden, the cat probably did not expect that in a few hours it would turn into a Giant Pear, which, unfortunately, would destroy their home as it grew. But the friends didn’t grieve for long and, without hesitation, moved in with the pear. Of course, the pear is amazing and eventually became not only a home, but also a real ship! Mitcho and Sebastian’s voyage will be as unusual, bizarre and full of surprises as their juicy ship.

I bought this book after someone praised it on a forum. My son is 3.5 years old and, in theory, too young for it. There are a lot of names in the book that are difficult to pronounce and memorize (but he got used to them later). And the plot, which would be nice to understand what is happening and why (but we got used to it). At the beginning, very high-quality illustrations compensate for all this. They are bright and drawn to the smallest detail (various fantastic techniques) so that the child is simply interested in learning how and what works. The funniest and most emotional moments are also very well drawn. My son listens, looks at the pictures, laughs, rejoices, worries about the characters, etc. The events are very dynamic and the child does not get bored listening to such a long story. I have already lost count of how many dozens of times we have read this wonderful book)) I definitely recommend it for both younger children (3-4 years old) and older children. For parents who are not used to the Ukrainian language, there will also be a challenge at the beginning)) because there are words that I could not pronounce correctly. But this also goes away with time)

I bought the book because I used to watch the cartoon (the illustrations are a big part of the book) with my older son. When I bought the book, my younger daughter 2.5 years old was very interested in the story (of course, primarily in the illustrations). To involve the child in the story, after watching the book showed a cartoon.

The number of images used in the book is quite large, so it seems that the plot is somewhat complicated for a child, but the interest pretty long holds as you need to explain a lot in passing. Overall, the book is not just for one time.

The plot is interesting even for an adult, as it uses a lot of unusual imagery and non-classical denouements. Also, the lack of modern toilet humor makes this work more kind and positive as it should be a good fairy tale. Daughter is somehow most impressed with the image of a submarine dragon, always asks him to show, maybe she’ll grow up herself interested in reading this book (most importantly, time to hide).

This book is a really wonderful read, it’s a pleasure to hold it in hands and the colors are really bright.

“The Incredible Story of the Giant Pear appeared thanks to a huge number of positive reviews on the website. I have never regretted listening to them. The book immediately became a hit with my son and for a long time was ranked first in the home book rating.

The book is large format. It’s beautifully executed: good printing. It is a pleasure to hold and flip through it.

As for the story itself. This is an adventure. The adventures are dynamic, action-packed, interesting, exciting.

Two friends receive a mysterious letter with a seed. After planting it, the main characters find themselves in a whirlwind of events related to the plant that has grown. And a giant pear has grown! This is where the incredible adventures begin. There is an exile from the hometown, a meeting with pirates, a terrifying sea dragon, a journey through the tar sea, and much more. And the most interesting thing is that the journey by sea takes place not on a ship, but in the giant pear itself!

The illustrations deserve a separate description. It’s like a wimmelbuch. The pictures are detailed, bright, and fully correspond to the text. And most importantly: there are a lot of them! Exactly what a preschooler needs!

I recommend the book for interesting and exciting reading.

It’s a great, very positive book. We read it after watching the cartoon of the same name. At first I thought the book would be big, with many details and would take a long time to read, but it turned out to be quite compact and fast. My first-grader even expressed a desire to read it on her own. And she managed to do it, because almost every paragraph of text is accompanied by an illustration, so there is not much text to read, and the illustrations are attractive, they look like those in the cartoon.

So, two friends – a kitten and an elephant – live in the best city in the world. But one day, their famous mayor disappears without a trace, and the search for him yields no results. After some time, the friends catch a mould in the sea, inside which is a letter from the mayor, telling them how to get to his mysterious island and what dangers they can expect on the way to the island, as well as a seed of a huge pear from the island. And the friends set off in search of the burgomaster.

Both the child and parents liked the book very much. It pleasantly surprised us with its boundless kindness and real childishness, sincerity and naivety of the characters (there are no adult semi-jargon words or adult impudence of the characters). It is a beautiful and kind story.
