“A Year in the Woods” is probably my son’s favorite storybook in our home children’s library. It has a large format, thick pages, very detailed and interesting illustrations. You can look at this book for hours and each time notice something you haven’t seen before.
The book introduces children to the inhabitants of the forest and what they do throughout the year. Each spread is a month of life in the forest. With the help of this book, a child will learn which animals sleep in winter, which animals have babies and when babies are born. Turning the pages, you can introduce the child to the seasons: in winter there is snow on the ground, in spring leaves appear on the trees, in summer there are many tourists in the forest, and in autumn it often rains and leaves fall from the trees.
At the beginning of the book there is a list of all the animals that live in the forest and a short description about them. On the last page there is an interesting maze game.
“A Year in the Forest is a book that will be interesting not only for children but also for their parents. Leafing through this book gives you incredible aesthetic pleasure. This book should be in every child’s library. I highly recommend it!

May my review be 31 🙂 I can not go by without sharing my impressions. It is very gratifying to see so many positive reviews. This book really deserves them!!!
My love for the book “Rik u lisi” came at first sight, that is, I first saw it, then bought it. The book is great and I was really looking forward to it after ordering it. The book is in fact a picture book, i.e. a picture book.
It is an aesthetic delight: look, examine, find different animals, watch the changing seasons, the life of the forest dwellers. This book can be viewed by the child himself. You can study together and have fun. You can play, find and place animal figures in the place of illustration. The number of stories and small details is amazing, everything is thoughtful, nothing is superfluous.
Great illustrated story about the seasons and their effect on nature and animals. Such drawings with meaning.
A great option for a gift: a large format book, worthy very much.
I certainly recommend it to everyone!

I bought the book “Rik u lisi” a couple of years ago at the Kiev festival “Book Arsenal”, and I bought it again at “Yakaba” as a proven edition – as a gift for friends, for their three-year-old girl. And you know, my daughter was interested in looking at it when she was 2, when she was 3, and now at 4 – it’s really versatile, multilevel and multi-age – and even for adults who are somehow involved in reading, or rather, in this case, in looking at the illustrations – this book won’t get bored, because it has lots of different details and details, drawn with heart and with humor.
It’s great that at the beginning of the book there is a spread with pictures of animals, birds and insects and short descriptions of these characters. Very expands the outlook and the big and small – because one thing is more familiar animals: the wolf, the forest, the hare – and there’s a badger, and weasel, and marten, and lynx, and all sorts of wethers.
I consider it a big plus that the book is printed on thick hardboard, and it is not so easy to break it in the end, tear it, etc. That is, you can safely give a two-year-old, and even a year, why not! After all, the child is gradually developing and with each passing year will be able to appreciate this book from a new side, get acquainted closer to its characters and fully appreciate all the beauty of the forest and its inhabitants in different seasons 🙂

We really liked this book. The book itself is sturdy (resistant to destruction). It presents 12 months, which makes it possible to memorize their names while playing. My daughter can answer the question who lives in the forest without hesitation, without prompting. Looking at every detail on the page, the child tells new stories. And these stories can be about new characters each time, and there are many of them. We liked the squirrel, we were looking for a mouse for a long time, but found a shrew instead :-). Mr. Forester always comes to the aid of animals, even fierce wolves. We choose the cutest character on the page and read about him on page 1. And the maze can lead to an unexpected result. We should especially note the section of the earth with its inhabitants, where you can find a lot of new things even for yourself :-).
I think this book will be interesting for every child, it perfectly develops imagination and the ability to compose phrases, sentences, and stories. Here you can follow each animal, bird or insect from birth, and identify migratory birds.

We bought the book “for growing up” when the baby was 1 year and 3 months old, but it turned out that even at that age everything in it is interesting to her. Sometimes she turns over the cardboard pages herself and looks at all 12 months, poking at certain animals with her finger. And sometimes she has patience for 2-3 turns.
If you sit down next to the kids and start saying something about the forest, animals and weather, while pointing to pictures in the book, the happiness of the karapuz has no limits 🙂 Hopefully, in the future interest in it will only grow, and the child himself will tell me who-where he sleeps, or why the hare has another coat … In general, you can based on such a glyadelka come up with your own fairy tales – everything is limited only by your imagination.
Now my daughter’s favorite page – the maze, but she’s not so much looking for an exit as she is just driving her finger along the paths.
The book is so colorful and interesting to look at and come up with your own stories, that even adults are “moved” by it.
A very proper book for a children’s library and definitely worth buying!
