My daughter, who is now 9 years old, has received book surprises before, but when she unpacked this book, her delight knew no bounds! She liked the format of the book and the wonderful colorful design, because the books she reads are already with black and white illustrations. We started reading together, and after reading half of it on the first day, my daughter closed the book and said: “It’s a great book…” Yes, I also think that the book is really cool, because it is better for a child to receive information from a loved one than to bring it from the yard. I often thought about how to choose the right words, and then I saw such a wonderful edition by KM Books on Yakaboo, and I ordered it without hesitation.

While reading, we discussed things that were not clear, my daughter asked questions, and it was clear that she was really interested and wanted to read more. I just had to answer the questions confidently and calmly. The book is a real helper in sex education for children, a godsend for parents. I know that we will return to these important topics more than once, and this is normal, because children have the right to know the truth, the truth from their parents. “Frankly Talking About It” deserves to be in the family library. And I recommend reading it with your children!

Even if you talk through everything and explain it to your child, he or she still needs to visualize what he or she has heard. The characters are simple: Maryka and Serhiyko are kids who are interested in everything. I’m sure your kids are, too. The body and human sensations; how we are similar and different at the same time; puberty; relationships between people; having children; things that are unpleasant but which a child should be aware of and know his or her boundaries; and finally, advice for parents – all these are the main sections. They raise in detail all the issues that are worth knowing. I would prefer this book to be a textbook for school. But first and foremost, it is our duty as parents to teach and explain everything to our children. And the book is a valuable assistant in this.

The book is worth having in your child’s library.

At what age will it be useful? It probably depends on the parents’ personal choice.

If you are ready to read it together with your child, it makes sense to start at the age of six. It is designed to be read together. Please note that at the end of the book there are tips for parents on how to explain various topics. They will help to avoid inconveniences experienced by parents rather than children, and on the other hand, they will actualize the adult’s attention to how to prioritize the material.

If you don’t plan to, then you can start from the age of 8-9, when the child can read large texts on their own.

Moreover, the book is not a one-time use: children will return to it several times throughout their growing up. I have observed this situation in my own experience and the experience of my friends: we read it together for the first time when we were 5-6 years old. And a few years later, we observed a situation where children re-read it on their own at the age of 8-9 (similar situations were common for both boys and girls).

So, in fact, when to read it is an adult’s choice.

However, if you read it together for the first time, you will definitely have a more trusting relationship with your children: you will be able to discuss topics of growing up calmly, and later, in adolescence, raise more serious issues. Children will not hesitate to come to you with their problems.

When I saw the book “Frank Talk about ‘It'”, I immediately decided that I needed to buy it, because sooner or later we will be talking about where children come from, why it is so and not otherwise, so to give my child thorough answers to the questions that will interest him, I read the book first.

The book “Frank Talk about ‘It'” covers a lot of important topics in a very competent and accessible way, and I liked that the information is not presented in a chaotic manner, but gradually, as it should be. From this book you can learn a lot of useful information, namely: what is gender, sexual characteristics, what is sexuality, the difference between boys and girls, male and female genitals, the difference between boys and girls, what is puberty, and many other very important things. I also really liked that the book has a lot of pictures, it will be very interesting to read the book with your child.

In my opinion, the book “Frank Talk About It” is one of the most useful for growing children who are beginning to wonder why boys and girls are so different, and it allows you to explain everything well. We haven’t read the book “Frank Talk About It” together yet, but having read the book, I am already prepared for future questions and can easily explain why we are so different and how everything happens. The book “Open Talk About It” has become a great tool for parents.
